It always seemed to start up during the sermons. It started off as a low clearing of the throat, and progressively built as time went on. The church I was currently serving in had a geriatric home next to it, so some of the elderly could be wheeled over on Sunday. Every week, one lady in particular would let us know if the sermon was running too long.
If the pastor approached the half hour mark, she would go into an all out lung blowing hack session. Kids would stare, everyone was hoping someone else would get her water, or wheel her away...but no one ever did.
I'm guessing everyone secretly appreciated her ability to keep the sermons moving along, and ending at a reasonable time. I know I did.
How long does your church service go? What is the longest it has ever gone, and what do you think the ideal length of church should be?
